Fssai is a government body that ensures food safety in India. Fssai License or registration is mandatory to run a food or related business in India.

There is a common procedure for all food operators to apply for food License Registration. FSSAI license/registration has three categories. A food business operator (FBO) can identify the required license type on the basis of their business category & turnover. Fssai has its own registration system which is as below:-

FSSAI License/Registration Criteria for food business operators.

Basic Fssai License

For Business with turnover up to Rs. 12 Lac Annually can apply for basic fssai registration.
Manufacture and Repacker are not eligible for Basic fssai registration.

State License

For Business with turnover between Rs. 12 Lac to Rs. 20 Cr annually ·have to apply for Fssai state license. In case of repacking, relabeling business irrespective of the turnover the business should obtain a State license.

Central License

For Business with turnover more than Rs. 20 Cr annually have to apply for Fssai central license.
